Famalay wins Road March Competition 2019 in Trinidad Carnival

The  Road March song in Trinidad is officially a family affair!

This morning the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO) announced that Famalay performed by Machel Montano, Skinny Fabulous and Bunji Garlin dominated the 2019 National Road March Competition.

The hit song was played three hundred and forty-six (346) times on the road for Carnival Monday and Tuesday. This is Bunji Garlin and Skinny Fabulous’ first road march win in Trinidad, and tenth win for Machel Montano.

Savannah Grass by Kes took the second spot, after it was played two hundred and seven (207) times.

Famalay now #1 on iTunes Reggae Chart

Exactly one week after being released, Famalay by Skinny Fabulous, Machel Montano and Bunji Garlin became the number one song in the world from the Caribbean on the iTunes Reggae Top 100 chart. The song just bumped Bob Marley & the Wailers’ famous Three Little Birds into the number 2 spot.

Famalay, produced by Dada music & International Stephen is likely to become an anthem for Trinidad’s carnival season and ripple into the Caribbean’s carnival calendar.

What is being dubbed as the craziest collaboration in Soca merges talents in the Southern Caribbean: Soca genius Skinny Fabulous from St. Vincent & the Grenadines, the ultimate lyricist Bunji Garlin & Soca King Machel Montano from Trinidad & Tobago, DJ and producer International Stephen from Trinidad based in St. Lucia, and DaDa Music from Dominica.
